Norwich Puppet Theatre came to school and we made animal puppets from Noah's ark. Group 1
I enjoyed the puppet making because it brought out all my ideas and imagination. Ella I enjoyed making the puppets because you got to use lots of different materials to make it. Wool, tissue paper, gems, pip cleaners. Daisy-Mai How to make a puppet - punch 4 holes in the toilet roll, put 2 pipe cleaners through the holes. I enjoyed puppet-making because we got to learn about how to make them. Phoenix We had a drama workshop in the hall with Peter, Gavin and Hollie. We talked about mystery plays and how the stories come from the Bible. We read the story of Noah's ark and talked about how they might have performed it back then. They would have used masks, puppets, costumes, props and scenery. It was very colourful. Most people couldn't read in those days so they watched plays and listened to stories. Group 1
I enjoyed having the drama workshop because Gavin was really funny when it came to playing Noah. Ella I learnt what Norwich, medieval, mystery and play meant. Katlyn I enjoyed making Noah's ark animals with people and friends. Jordan I learnt what ark means and also I learnt that it is amazing to act out Noah's ark. Ella We went to Norwich Castle and had a tour of it's Keep. We learnt that it was a medieval palace for the King, but that they don't think he ever stayed there. The Keep had a big dining hall for feasts and he had a bedroom with his own chapel in it. The servants slept on the floor in the basement with the animals. There were soldiers that stayed at the Castle that made sure nobody invaded. The Castle was much bigger then with a moat around it. We saw the toilets which were very different from today. The King would talk to his Knights there about their secret business there. There was a bucket at the bottom of a hole where the poo and wee was collected. Someone was paid to collect it in a bucket. Flint is made from sponges that have gone hard over thousands of years. Flint can be found in Norwich to make buildings with, but it costs a lot to use. WE looked at some buildings around the city, including the market, Guildhall and Tombland. The Guildhall is where the mayor worked and they used to weigh things. People paid their taxes to the mayor. There is a bigger building now where Norwich is run from. Group 1
