Making puppets of the angels and animals from Noah's ark. We were given instructions, there were fabrics, buttons, string. We did some drama. We were being animals and 500 year old Noah. Maisy When we did the drama session I was a giraffe, a snake and a rabbit. I was Noah on my own and in 3 we made an octopus. We watched other people be animals. Violet We did some drama. Seren When we did drama yesterday of Noah's ark, we had to be Noah who is 500 years old, the animals that went on the ark and in partners we were building the ark together. When we made our puppet I made a ginger cat. Liv We had to pretend to be 500 years old. We had to pretend to make the ark being someone who was 500 years old and we needed to paint the ark. I then was an animal and we were told to be a monkey.I made a puppet and we needed to pick animals from Noah's ark because that was the play we were looking at. William We went to Norwich Castle Museum. When we got there we split up into three groups. One group went on a tour of the castle's Keep, another group went with Gavin into the gallery to talk about mystery plays and medieval trades and the last group went with Peter and Paul, the Blue Badge Guide, to have a tour of medieval buildings in the city. We all got to swap around. Group 1 - 3 The thing I enjoyed was walking around the Castle because I liked learning what or who lived there and I know they were the Normans. I liked looking at the Guildhall where the goldsmiths traded gold, the blacksmiths for iron, baker for bread, fishmonger for fish, falconer for rodents and more! Isobel
We walked out of the Castle and walked around the market and we looked at the line where the old chapel was in the middle of the market place and we also looked at the Guildhall where all the baker and goldsmith and all of them met up and did mystery plays like Noah's ark. Baxter After I got the bus we walked up into the Castle. we went into the Keep which was enormous. We saw lots of interesting things. Next we went for a walk to the market. we learnt some interesting facts about medieval Norwich. Joshua When we went to the Castle we saw the amazing Keep with the King's bedroom. It had loads of colours of blue, red and yellow. Purple showed you were very rich! The Castle had a deep, deep well, with stones and coins truck to the stones! At the market there were blacksmiths, silversmiths, goldsmiths and weapon smiths. The Kings were wearing clothes like gowns and crowns and trousers! The houses were like wooden huts and wooden pillars with flint! Florence Peter and Gavin from Norwich Medieval Mystery Plays came into our school to tell us about the project. We learnt about the medieval period and what Norwich was like. The medieval period is after the Romans and before the Tudor period. Norwich was invaded by the Normans after the Battle of Hastings in 1066. They built a Castle in the city in 1067 and put it on a big mound that was hand built. They moved the market place to below the Castle so that they could keep an eye on the Anglo-Saxons and make sure they didn't misbehave. We looked at lots of pictures about what they wore, the houses they lived in, what they built their houses from, what jobs they had and what they used to sell at the market. Group 1
